Horses can become stressed due to a variety of environmental or social factors such as training, exercise, diet and their relationship with other horses. Stress can become a serious problem for even the toughest horses, causing health and behavioral problems. Stress weakens the immune system, so the possibility of diseases in stressed horses will be higher.
Mechanism of action:
Valerian and lemon balm have long been used as sedatives, anti-anxiety and stress relievers. These herbs naturally affect the nervous system and lead to calmness and improve restlessness. Even nowadays, these herbs are used to improve anxiety, nervous tension and stress.
The active compounds in valerian lead to calming effects by stimulating the release and activation of inhibitory receptors of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and preventing its degradation. These compounds also modulate the circulation of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain and suppress stress responses by controlling blood corticosterone levels. Valerian is also effective in treating problems caused by stress such as ulcers, colic, constipation, muscle spasms, bloat and bronchial problems.
The active compounds in lemon balm prevent the destruction of GABA- the inhibitory neurotransmitter- and lead to the enhancement of cholinergic receptors in the brain and the protection of nerves. Lemon balm has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-lipidemic, and anti-diabetic effects.
The formulation of Neuro Calm is such that the active ingredients in valerian and lemon balm extracts, including isoborneol, valerenic acid, linalool, linalyl acetate, rosmarinic acid, and flavonoids intensify and strengthen each other’s therapeutic effects and make the medicine even more effective.
