The natural digestive system in aquatic animals is twisted with a thin wall and its mucosa is folded instead of having villi. Diseases of the digestive system in aquatic animals can be caused by the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria and the invasion of digestive parasites such as protozoa and helminthes, and cause weight loss, emaciation and loss of appetite, and eventually death in some cases. If the digestive system is involved with infections, its mucosa is occupied by parasites and bacteria and causes destruction and occurrence of digestive complications. Cocci Phyt medicine consists of completely herbal ingredients and because of its ingredients, it prevents parasitic and bacterial diseases of the digestive system and improves the feed conversion ratio and increases the weight of aquatic animals.

Coccidiosis in aquatic animals is often caused by the Eimeria parasite and it adheres to the intestinal mucosa of aquatic animals, destroys it and causes digestive problems. Also, Eimeria in aquatic animals can attack other organs such as the liver and swim bladder. The pathogenic sporulated oocysts of the Eimeria parasite are found throughout the intestines of infected fish and can be excreted into the water and contaminate other aquatic animals.

Mechanism of action:

The formulation of this anti-coccidial herbal medicine is completely based on the active ingredients of oak gall, garlic and artemisia plants. Artemisinin is the most important active ingredient in Artemisia, which has strong anti-parasitic effects. Artemisinin produce free radicals by the destruction of peroxide complexes and thus creates oxidative stress in the parasite. These radicals directly inhibit sporulation and prevent the formation of the parasite’s cell wall.

Artemisinin is also an inhibitor of sarco-endoplasmic reticulum and causes disturbance in calcium ion homeostasis and as a result it disturbs the cellular pathways regulated by this ion such as protein secretion, motility, cell division and differentiation. therefore, artemisinin reduces the excretion of parasite oocysts from the animal and also reduces sporulation in the excreted oocysts. Reducing oocyst excretion leads to controlling the disease and preventing its transmission and spread at the farm level. Another anti-parasitic effect of Artemisia annua is preventing parasites from attaching to the epithelial cells of the digestive tract and causing them to die. In addition, the Artemisia annua plant contains compounds that help to maintain the natural microflora of the digestive system and thus increase nitrogen absorption and prevent the invasion of pathogenic and infectious bacteria. It also increases the growth rate and improves the performance of aquatic animals.

Tannin is the most important active compound of oak gall, which penetrates the wall of oocysts and causes inactivation of enzymes responsible for sporulation. In addition, tannins, have antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which improve the environment of the digestive system. Tannins remove proteins from the reach of the bacteria in the digestive tract by forming a complex with them,  so that they reach to the intestinal environment safely and be absorbed by body cells. Therefore, tannins increase weight and improve the conversion ratio. The sulfur-containing compounds in garlic, such as allicin, have broad antimicrobial properties that can reduce the negative effects caused by microbial infections. Allicin effectively inhibits the sporulation of parasites. Also, by increasing the phagocytosis realted factors, allicin causes the death of bacterial cells and reduces the mortality due to infections such as Aeromonas.

In general, the formulation of Cocci Phyt medicine is such that these active compounds together have the highest efficiency and are safe at the same time.
