In the livestock industry, stress is one of the most important issues which farmers are faced to. Stressful factors can affect the production and health of the animal. Calves and lambs are more prone to adverse effects of stress. The occurrence of stress symptoms can originate from factors in the environment or conditions that are not favorable for the animal. Stress can affect ruminants physically or mentally. Factors such as hunger and diseases can be stressful for the animal.

High levels of stress in a long time has negative effects such as weakening of the immune system, reduced reproduction, weight loss, digestive problems and reduced feed intake.

Mechanism of action:

Valerian and lemon balm have long been used as sedatives, anti-anxiety and stress relievers. These plants naturally affect the nervous system and lead to calmness and improve restlessness. Even nowadays, these plants are used to improve anxiety, nervous tension and stress.

The active compounds in valerian lead to calming effects by stimulating the release and activation of inhibitory receptors of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and preventing its degradation. These compounds also modulate the circulation of norepinephrine and serotonin in the brain and suppress stress responses by controlling blood corticosterone levels. Valerian is also effective in treating problems caused by stress.

The active compounds in lemon balm prevent the destruction of GABA- the inhibitory neurotransmitter- and lead to the enhancement of cholinergic receptors in the brain and the protection of nerves. Lemon balm has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-lipidemic, and anti-diabetic effects.

The formulation of Neuro Calm is such that the active ingredients in valerian and lemon balm extracts, including isoborneol, valerenic acid, linalool, linalyl acetate, rosmarinic acid, and flavonoids intensify and strengthen each other’s therapeutic effects and make the medicine even more effective.
